PENNSYLVANIA

13 June 2012: Today we bid our wonderful hosts farewell. We wish Randy and Kate and their children all the best in their new home, town, and state.

Thom with Randy, Kate, Ammon and Nathan Pierce, Lovettsville, VA.
Daughter Samantha is having fun at summer camp!
We headed north with our car loaded up as usual. The trunk is full, the back seat is overflowing because we have full camping gear and equipment with us, warm clothes for Britain and possibly Canada, work clothes for Colorado Springs, etc. We had thought of buying a Little Guy teardrop trailer before we left Melbourne, and got very close to it but the company had changed to a stronger base and it put the weight of them over the weight our car could pull. Also, we had been reluctant to order one sight unseen - so you can see why we stopped to see them at a dealership on Rt 15 N in the middle of no-where!

Little Guy teardrop trailers; could have been our home away from home!
Now in Pennsylvania, we stopped at Gettysburg National Military Park.

Sheila at Gettysburg National Military Park.

Sheila and Thom at Gettysburg, where Lincoln gave his famous dedicatory address.
The roads around the park are lined with memorials to troops who participated in and lost troops at Gettysburg. General Lee lost 5,000 in one hour here, in "Pickett's Charge."
This is a New Jersey memorial.

After Gettysburg, we started our journey east to New Jersey. We went through York and Lancaster, and on the east side of Lancaster we began to see heavy concentrations of Amish farms. Here are a few snapshots of Amish country.
